Nokia 6210 Navigator Review

The 6210 Navigator is the follow up to the Nokia 6110 Navigator which was release June 2007.

The 6210 is a slider (comes in black or red), is dual-band 3G and HSDPA, quad-band GSM, has a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, accelerometer (motion sensor), and microSD memory card slot (up to 8 GB).

The key features is the assisted GPS with integrated magnetic compass. Nokia say over 60% of mobile users are keen to have navigation on their phone. Use it with Nokia Maps 2.0. The compass helps you navigate the maps when walking down the street. You can only use the compass when navigating.

You go to: Options > Tools > Turn compass on.

When the compass is on, the map view turns automatically in the direction the top of the phone is pointing. The compass needs to be calibrated before you start (the circle is red if it needs calibrating). See link at end of the page. 6 months voice navigation is included, along with Nokia Maps 2.0 (pre-loaded on to the 1 GB memory card you get in the package) and a mobile phone car holder - use the GPS for car navigation.

Accelerometer

Much like other Nokia phones with motion sensor, flip the phone over to silence calls and alarms. In many applications, the screen rotates when you change the screen position.

The Nokia 6210 Navigator is due for release in September 2008. Price: approx £160 + VAT.
