The Nokia 6300 looks great. Slim, thin and very stylish with a stainless steel and black plastic casing. For the price, the Nokia 6300 is a good buy.

Design

The keypad is fine - nice wide keys, and the 4-way scroll key performed well. The camera isn't the best - no auto focus or flash, and the camera lens can get grubby from fingermarks.

The volume key - woah. This is by far the stiffest volume button we've tested. Maybe we got a dud? You have to press the button pretty hard (in comparison to all the other mobile phones we've tested). It's not a rocker button - it's flat and nearly flush with the surface. This could have been better - a style over usability issue.

You have to remove the back case to get to the memory card - there's a slot at the bottom left of the phone. The screen is a decent size - it's a slim 2-inch diagonal screen. The quality is great. Sound quality is very good, as was making and receiving calls.

The Nokia 6300 has low phone memory (just 7 MB). The bundled memory card stores various applications. There's no 3G, so Internet browsing will be slow. Battery life is OK - 3.5 hours talk time.

Camera: Shutter lag - approx. 1.1 seconds. No camera flash, auto focus or camera lens cover. Image quality in good light - OK for a camera phone. The 6300 is great if all you want is a slim phone without the latest mobile phone features and top-end specs.
