Samsung Innov8 Review

Announced in July 2008, the Samsung INNOV8 (i8510) is a Symbian Series 60 (S60) slider smartphone with 8 MP camera, dual power LED flash, 3G, HSDPA (up to 7.2 Mbps), 3.5 mm audio jack, 1200 mAh battery, 2.8-inch QVGA screen, 16 GB phone memory, Wi-Fi, GPS, acceleromter, optical mouse, DNSe audio, microSD memory card slot (up to 16 GB, will a 32 GB microSDHC card work? Maybe.).

Expected UK launch September 2008, with SIM-free price expected to be over £500.

Fun fact: A 10 MP Samsung camera phone SGH-B600 was released in Korea in 2006.

The Samsung INNOV8 is quite a big phone - 106.5 x 53.9 x 17.2 mm. A little chunky. Quite heavy too - 140g. Talk-time - 5 hours (3G), 7.5 hours (2G). Standby time - 330 hours (3G), 310 hours (2G).

Camera - Blink Shot

Yes, the camera won't take shots when people have their eyes shut. We can foresee a whole range of "shots" - sneeze shot, tongue shot, "looking at your shoes" shot, rabbit ears shot and lastly, rude hand signal shot. Expect to see these revolutionary features in camera phones sometime in 2009/2010.

Dual Power LED Flash

Power LEDs are quite bright. Two of them - should be good. Takes up less space and is comparable to Xenon flash.

8 MP Camera Phone Frenzy

Best Christmas 2008 phones are likely to include a handful of 8 MP camera phones. Sony Ericsson have already announced their 8 MP Sony Ericsson C905 phone. 3 more 8 MP phones are expected to be announced later in August - Nokia and LG perhaps included.
